Committee
Information
Legislative
Affairs
The
Legislative Affairs Committee focuses its attention on national,
state, and local legislative proposals, actions, and trends.
It assists the chapter in developing its position on pending
legislation and encourages members to help shape public
policy by voicing their opinions. The committee consistently
monitors and communicates to chapter members, trends and
changes in the legislative process.
Learning
and Development
The
Learning and Development Committee works in the areas of
volunteer leadership skills and career development for chapter
members. It monitors the interests and concerns of chapter
members through surveys and acts upon survey results by
seeking out professional speakers, educators, and specialists.
The committee schedules chapter meeting presenters and coordinates
conferences, HRCI study groups, and other educational opportunities.
Recognition
This
committee establishes the criteria and selection process
for awards that recognize individual members who have made
significant contributions to their companies, community,
and the field of human resources management.
Nominations
The
Nominations Committee determines candidates for each elected
office of the chapter. Prior to November, the committee
advises the Secretary of the names to be placed on the election
ballot. It tabulates ballots considering all write-ins and
informs the President for announcement at the November chapter
meeting.
Membership
The
Membership Committee endeavors to creatively recruit new
chapter members and retain existing members. Members of
this committee serve as chapter ambassadors, coordinate
social events, and help visitors and new members feel welcome.
By-Laws
The
By-Law Committee reviews written chapter by-laws annually,
recommends revisions and amendments, and makes recommendation
to the chapter board.
Public
Relations
The
Public Relations Committee uses a variety of media sources
to announce elected officers, appointments, awards, meetings,
and activities. It ensures consistent and accurate communication
to chapter members through newsletters, the chapter web
site, and special mailings.
Diversity
The
Diversity Committee strives to increase diversity among
chapter membership and volunteer leadership, discover and
develop resources to assist members with the process of
managing diversity in their workplaces, recognize members
and employers who demonstrate the value of diversity, and
communicate the chapter's diversity initiative.
Workforce
Readiness
The
School-to-Work Committee creates and supports initiatives
that prepare our future workforce for success. It partners
with established programs that support the collaboration
of educators and employers, encourages chapter members to
participate in career days, job shadowing, mentoring, and
internships, and works to find ways to improve the employability
skills of students to achieve successful transition from
school to work. |
