New Web Site Feature Home Page Post [HPP]      01/29/2009   11:59:37

Here we go… This right here and now, what you are looking at is a new feature to the CIC-SHRM Web Site.  We will call it the Home Page Post, or HPP – I like acronyms.   Why do we need this?  Well now that I have the responsibility of being in-charge of the web site for the chapter, I want to do more with the web site.  Specifically, I would like to give visitors a reason to come to the site, and then to return soon.  This is referred to simply as traffic. 

You may have notice some changes that we have already made to the site.  On the front page you see links to our youtube site, also to our blog site and to our Linkedin site.  Again this is done to help create traffic, to get you the web site visitor to come here and see what is going on.  We plan on putting up a video on the chapter’s library and what resources are available to members in the next couple of weeks.  This will be posted on the youtube site.
 
We also changed the format of the calendar. You can get there two different ways.  While visiting the web site you can click on the left side on CALENDAR OF EVENTS and it will take you right to the calendar inside the web site, or you can use an external link to the calendar, http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=cicshrm223%40gmail.com&ctz=America/Chicago. This will take you right to the calendar in its own web page.    Just so you know, the calendar is simply a public google just like anyone else can create on google.
 
We have also updated the contacts page with the new board members.  You will notice that each board members name is hyperlinked to their linkedin profile.
 
Now on to the HPP, we are going to put news related items up here, and they will stay here until a new item is posted.  When a new item is posted, the current posting like this one will be moved to the NEWS ARCHIVE (now on the left side page) where each item will be displayed by its title, and the date it was first posted.  It will still be accessible; it will just not be displayed on the front page of the web site.
 
So if you have something that you think the chapter members need to know about, news, funny stuff, a professional tip, a meeting, or your child making the honor roll, or whatever you think we should post please forward it to me at dryan@mel-o-cream.com and I will do my best to get it on the web site.  Also remember any member who has joined our linkedin group can start a discussion or post a news item.  Please jump right in there and use these tools.  This is all being done so we have a whole range of communication tools at our fingertips.
