May 2009 Chapter Meeting Recap 05/26/2009 09:44:27
The May chapter meeting was held at UIS with 60 members registered to attend. Although a couple folks had to back out at the last minute, we still had a good size group. There were five new members in attendance, Ralph Hill, Rick Lamb and Jeannie Westlake all from ICG Viper Mine, Greg Mannon with Technisource and Debra Whitney with Peerless Cleaning & Restoration.
A special thanks to
Jean Campbell (pictured) and
Alice Campbell Staffing for sponsoring the meeting. Also, a big thanks to
Andy Griswold and
TruPay for being an annual sponsor and helping to cover the cost of all of our chapter events.
This meeting featured two renowned two speakers who presented on the topic of Organizational Development, OD. They were
Peter F. Sorensen, Jr., Ph.D., who is Professor and Director of the Ph.D. program in Organization Development and the M.S. program in Management and Organizational Behavior at Benedictine University and
Therese F. Yaeger, Ph.D. who is an Associate Professor in Benedictine University’s Organization Development (O.D.) and Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior (M.S.M.O.B.) programs, teaching at both the graduate and doctoral level.
During the presentation Peter and Therese discussed the intertwined relationship of H.R. and O.D. They presented
a list of suggested readings for anyone who might be inclined to learn a little more about
O.D. They also discussed the work of
David Cooperrider and
his work with
appreciative inquiry.
Their presentation will be posted here as well, as soon as we receive it.
Mitch Losee a new member who lives in Chatham and works at
GSI in Taylorville was the winner of the 50/50 drawing. Mitch walked away with $39.50.
