July Chapter Meeting Recap 07/16/2009 08:32:52
The July meeting of the chapter was well attended. We had 65 advanced registrants, making this one of the better attended events in the last couple of years. While members dined, we were displaying
a presentation on SHRM Certifications. We had a lot going on at this meeting. First we would like to thank our sponsor
CENTRAL ILLINOIS COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER for sponsoring the event. We heard from Tara Matheson of CICBC. She explained to the chapter their organization mission and how CIC-SRHM members could help them with that.
Presenting board reports, Nicole Ralph asked for help and participation in a clothing drive for the Dress for Success Program. Chapter members will be asked to donate clothes that may be used by others to enhance their chances of gaining employment. The collection will take place at the November meeting. Diane Cavanagh told members about an upcoming survey and asked for their participation.
President Patty Curry also presented a couple of awards. The chapter thanked Abby Detmers for her board service and presented her with a certificate. And long-time chapter member/activist Kay Titchenal was award the chapter’s Life Time Achievement Award for here dedication and service to the local Human Resources Community – Congratulations and thank you Kay for all you do!
Vicky Folwer recognized a couple of other members for their recent successful completion of the SHRM certification exams. President Patty Curry obtained her SPHR certification and Inez Harris College Relations Chair received her PHR certification. Congratulations to both!
Vicki then introduced the speaker for the meeting, Joseph W. Huff, Ph.D. Assistant Professor at U.I.S. Dr. Huff presentation was on job satisfaction. He has spent a great deal of time studying the matter. If you would like to review of look at

Ralph Hill from Viper Mines in Williamsville was the winner of $47 in the 50/50 drawing. The chapter’s proceeds will go to support the Dress for Success Program.
