CIC-SHRM Post:
News form September Chapter Meeting 10/06/2009 08:54:49Fall is now officially here, and the September chapter meeting is behind us. There were nearly 50 members and guests in attendance at the meeting. This is actually a little lower than it has been throughout the year of 2009. Chapter meeting attendance has been high and some of us on the board have pondered this. The best theory we have come up with, is this. Times are tough and our members are attending local events in an effort to get the most bang for their buck. We would like to thank our Meeting Sponsor for September, The Illinois Manufacturer’s Extension Cooperative (IMEC) and their representatives Mark Baer and Dan Burmeister for their support of our chapter. Mark (Left) and Dan (Right) are pictured below with chapter President Pattie Curry.
And not just for this month but for the entire year, we have seen an increase in meeting sponsorship. We thank all of this year’s sponsors for helping CIC-SHRM continue to deliver programs and services desired by our members.
Through the efforts of our membership chair Janine Griffith, we have been able to maintain our chapter’s membership near the 120 member mark. This is where it has been for the last several years, although some years it has been challenging to maintain membership.
The chapter will be hosting a couple events coming up in October. Our annual diversity event will take place as well as a new member orientation (
posted on the CIC-SHRM calendar), both to be held on the LLCC Campus.
The chapter is also looking for candidates to fill some open positions on the CIC-SHRM board. You may be contacted about this. Please give this due consideration. While being on a board does take some commitment is quite rewarding and a great way to meet the members of the chapter, all of whom are your peers, here in the area.
Lastly, a reminder that at the November meeting a couple special things are taking place and the board needs chapter members’ help and support. We will be hosting a clothing drive, for the Clothes for Careers program. This is a most worthwhile program that helps young ladies get into the job market by providing them with clothing articles and accessories which will allow them to enter the workplace and be well dressed. Please bring any articles of clothing that do not fit or are no longer worn or needed to the meeting, and the chapter will get them to program coordinators. The November chapter meeting is also the time when we host a silent auction to provide a Chapter-wide donation to the SHRM Foundation. In order to pull this off, we need donations for the auction as well as members to make the purchases at the auction. Please consider helping out the chapter with this effort. If you have questions about the auction you can contact chapter past President
Nicole Ralph.
